About A’Lelia Walker

A’Lelia Walker, the only daughter of entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker, was a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Her parties were so legendary that poet Langston Hughes called her the “Joy Goddess of Harlem’s 1920s.” Her great-granddaughter and namesake A’Lelia Bundles is at work on the first major biography of Walker.
